Meet Aris Garner and her comic 'Black Metal Girl'

Aris Garner III Esq. (aka Lethal Lillian) hails from Los Angeles, CA. While growing up in a not-so-diverse part of the suburbs; With a musically-inclined Trekkie family, she was viewed as a quite peculiar individual. Being different from the norm was something she reveled in, and took what others saw as weaknesses and made them her strengths. In 2010, she came up with the idea for a cartoon structured around the things she loves the most, music and pop-culture nostalgia. She took her love and five years later, turned her passion into Black Metal Girl: an episodic comic book that speaks on the life and times of living as a metalhead in this over-saturated top-40 culture.

About The Brutal Adventures of Black Metal Girl

"After many seasons in the abyss, Black Metal Girl has awoken from her slumber, rising from the dense layer of fog that lies beneath her. The time has come for her to show you the gift that she has been given, and the force inside her that she has long awaited to be released."  - BlackMetalGirl.com

Issue #1 finds us fighting against the Over-Protective Mothers Association of America (OPMAA), after Julia Wyner’s son sets himself on fire by accident, trying to light a joint after a show. Blind to her son’s stupidity, Ms. Wyner takes her complaints online to rally an open forum community meeting, with an effort to rid the city (and perhaps world) of all metal music. Black Metal Girl offers to give all metalheads in her city a fire safety course as a peace offering, with hopes of pleasing the OPMAA. But! Along the way, she is opposed by fire demons, overzealous protestors, and people that have nothing better to do than complain.
